PRIMA wins the Emilia Romagna ICT Innovation Award

The company's information system is constituted, on the one hand, of a wide range of software applications, and on the other, of a set of resources - PCs, company servers, communication systems, security systems, basic software environments - which constitute the so-called ICT infrastructure.

Prima Industries, together with Oracle partner, the Filippetti Group, has undertaken a project to consolidate its IT infrastructure through virtualization technologies.

The project has been developed in two phases; firstly by the virtualization of the company servers and secondly by involving the PC desktops park of Prima Industries.

Thanks to the consolidation of the IT infrastructure, Prima Industries has rationalized investments in new hardware and optimized information system maintenance. With the increased efficiency of the server park, the company has achieved savings of approximately 1,500 Euro per year. It has also improved the continuity of business processes: now, maintenance is possible without the need to suspend the company's operational activities. The adoption of thin clients facilitates the activation of workstations that are now operational in less than an hour. Business Continuity is ensured by the possibility for employees to access their virtual desktop and workstation at any time, regardless of the physical location. In addition, data security has improved thanks to residing data on the Prima servers and not on individual PCs.

To reward this initiative, Smau has decided to give PRIMA this award as the winner of the Emilia Romagna ICT Innovation Award of Smau Business Bologna in the IT Architecture and Cloud Computing category.

New light with LED to our products

Led lights, characterized by high quality standards, represent the modern alternative to traditional bulb lamps and fluorescent lights and make it possible to propose different aesthetical solutions. After studies and tests made on several products, Prima has chosen to propose this alternative on its lighting systems for interiors like: Luggage racks (Planet, Venus, EasyRACK, Delta, Moon) and for the central lighting units P342. From 2010, then, many of our products will be available either in the traditional version, with fluorescent lights or bulb lamps, or fully accessorized with Led to light up:

  • Entry/exit areas, where Led are applied according to different power needs.
  • Compartment lighting (Led strips for rack handrails and for multisets).
  • Individual reading lights (light diffusers type P410 combinable with air diffusers and loudspeakers of the same range or assembled in a dedicated Multiset).
For night trips, it’s possible to offer to the passengers a suffused light installing blue Led in the stripes of the central lighting units type P342 and in the side wings of the P410 Multisets.

Some good reasons to choose the LED The advantages of Led technology are several, for example:

  • Reduction of administration costs, thanks to the MTBF of 50.000 hours compared to the 10.000 and 1.500 hours respectively for the fluorescent and traditional bulb lights.
  • Compliance to the newest environmental rules and directives.
  • Possibility of various aesthetical solutions in regards to brightness and chromaticity
